The Faculty of Aerospace Engineering and TAROM cooperate since the start of the faculty in 1971. Between 1981-1986 FAE trained flight engineers. As an example of the cooperation, Dean 1972-1980 Victor Pimsner signed with TAROM a 8 mil. Lei contract to design and manufacture an Instrument Landing System (ILS), which was installed at Bacau Airoport in 1985. TAROM is perceived as a legacy airline, with a high degree of aeronautical safety. It is less known that the TAROM brand was also built on the competence of the engineers and of the technicians in the company, who provided high technical standards, appreciated worldwide. Airlines such as Ryanair and Lauda Air started with TAROM aircraft and enjoyed this technical knowledge at international level.
